Pakistan Exempts Some Goods Import Surtax

Pakistan's "Tribune express" reported that Pakistan's tariff policy committee recently approved a proposal to exempt 152 goods from import surcharges. Dawud, the prime minister's business adviser, said the move is an important manifestation of the government's promotion of import and export trade. It aims to provide domestic industries with cheaper raw materials to reduce production costs. The measure will also help Pakistan improve its export competitiveness. Daud reiterated the importance of the "made in Pakistan" initiative, saying that the government would make full use of the regulatory role of tax policies to promote the development of Pakistan's manufacturing industry and provide assistance for Pakistan's industrial restructuring and sustainable economic development.
