Textile Education Cadre Gong Yue At The Foot Of Tianshan

With the gradual advancement of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the steady construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Xinjiang's strategic position as the west gate of the motherland continues to emerge. However, the local economic structure, fragile geographical environment, sparse population, and relatively backward technology and education status have restricted the sustainable development of the region.

At this moment, in Alar, the hinterland of the southern Xinjiang, a cadre assisting Xinjiang from Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology to Tarim University is based on the popularization of science and technology and school education practices, for the benefit of the local people.

Unshakable causes

People in the Xuan Corps circulated a sentence: Born in Jinggangshan, they grew up in Nanniwan. He fought for tens of thousands of miles and settled in Tianshan. Born in the old revolutionary district of Jiangxi, Gong Yue, a cadre of aid to Xinjiang, is a person with a red gene.

Gong has an indissoluble bond with the Corps. From the Nanchang Uprising, from Jiangxi to Yan'an to the great victory of liberating the whole of China, the People's Army had a 359 brigade, spanning tens of thousands of miles, and rooted in the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains. This was the predecessor of the Xinjiang Corps.

"University is where the city's temperament is, Tarim University is the Corps School, the temperament of the University of Tajikistan is the style of soldiers, the pursuit of execution, that is, the courage to overcome difficulties and become impossible." Gong, who has taught at Tarim University since 2018 I said.

“The importance of Xinjiang ’s geographical location is unquestionable, and it also has a solid foundation in textiles and clothing.” Gong Yue, who has been engaged in textile education for 11 years, told China Science News, “Xinjiang ’s cotton cultivation area accounts for 80% of the country, and its surroundings are also Most are large cotton-growing countries, with output accounting for more than half of the world. This gives Xinjiang's cotton textile industry a superior geographical advantage. "Gong Yue said.

In Gong's opinion, the upgrading of Xinjiang's cotton textile industry is very important both to Xinjiang's regional development and the country's transformation. This has also become an important reason for him to stay at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains, and even an unshakable reason.

Waterless printing breaks environmental protection barriers

When he first arrived in Xinjiang, Gong Yue began to think about how his technology could land.

He told reporters: "The total output value of China's textile and apparel industry accounts for about 10% of the total industrial output value of GDP, which can solve the direct employment of 30 million people, and at the same time drive the employment of 20-30 million people in related industries."

However, Xinjiang's resource endowment in the cotton textile industry has not brought full dividends to the local area. Cotton produced in Xinjiang can only be rough processed locally and vigorously shipped, which not only increases transportation costs, but also increases economic efficiency. Part of the added value is arrogant.

"Textile is a high-energy-consuming industry, but Xinjiang has no shortage of energy. Xinjiang ’s textile and apparel industry subsidizes electricity prices of 0.28 yuan, while inland industrial electricity needs 0.78 yuan. Why do n’t we take advantage of Xinjiang ’s energy advantages and set up sites directly?” Gong Yue said.

At the same time, Xinjiang cotton is often "changed for princes" during transportation, and the highest quality Xinjiang cotton will be blended with other quality cotton. Gong Yue advocated to trace the origin, and only by making textiles directly in southern Xinjiang can the raw material advantages be transformed into industrial advantages.

Pollution before treatment is a repeated issue in the economic development of the Mainland. Gong Yue does not want it to repeat itself in Xinjiang. Before coming to Xinjiang, his research focused on the environmental protection technology of textiles. Out of the responsibility of scholars, Gong Yue and related experts worked hard to overcome the waterless printing and dyeing technology.

"In the printing and dyeing industry, China has achieved the world's number one, and we can make a breakthrough in this technology." Gong Yue is full of confidence in this research through his many years of experience in this field. He said that waterless printing and dyeing is similar to dry cleaning clothes and requires very little water. Its main dyeing medium is environmentally friendly organic solvents, which are non-toxic and harmless.

Next, Gong Yue is going to start a demonstration project of waterless printing and dyeing in Xinjiang. After the technical conditions are mature, it can be applied on a large scale.

"Take Alar City, Xinjiang as an example. The annual cotton output value of this city is 10 billion yuan. If the waterless printing and dyeing technology program is implemented, the waterless printing and dyeing fabrics are developed on the spot and processed into clothing products. The output value can reach at least 300 billion yuan." Gong Yue said.

Junanjiang Textile Creates New Business Card

As a university teacher, Gong Yue has been exploring the towering mechanism for talent training in southern Xinjiang, that is, using the university as a platform to train a group of people, and using industry to encourage talents to stay locally, improve the quality of education, and form a positive cycle. "The biggest supporting investment in the industry should be talent. Unfortunately, we still haven't done a good job in this area," he said.

Nevertheless, Gong Yue is still very fortunate that he has obtained a platform for promoting industrial progress and regional economic development through talent training.

In history, one person used textile as a starting point to achieve "industrial salvation of the country" and "education and prosperity", that is, Zhang Jian, the first person in modern Chinese textiles. When it comes to this person, Gong Yue couldn't hide his admiration.

"In Nantong, Jiangsu, Zhang Jian founded China's first joint-stock textile enterprise. Since then, he has established a number of schools in Nantong and strengthened the infrastructure so that Nantong, located in northern Jiangsu, has economic development no less than that in southern Jiangsu." Gong He said that the textile industry initiated by Zhang Jian is an industry that affects and promotes education.

This is what Gong Yue hopes to achieve.

With the continuous advancement of the “Belt and Road” initiative, Gong Yue hopes that the textile and apparel college prepared by Tarim University can become the future center of textile and apparel education in the “Belt and Road” country. "We hope to get more support from relevant departments so that the development of national costumes with Xinjiang characteristics becomes a new business card for China to go global." He said.
