Textile industry related information

The Textile Bill also made it mandatory for all textile and its sub-sectors including primary textile, readymade garment, allied textile, and packaging and accessories manufacturers to get registered with the department for running their business in the country.

Buying house owners for the first time would come under the department and they have to be getting registered with it to carry out their respective business. Buying houses play an important role in garment-export earning, as the majority of the apparel factories are dependent on them.

A buying house currently can operate its business only by obtaining a trade license from the authorities concerned. At present, there is no obligation for buying houses to get registered with a supervising body or an association.

According to the Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA), some 600 garment-buying houses are registered with the association. And an additional 400 to 500 buying houses are running their business across the country sans any affiliation with the trade body, according to industry people.

The main purpose of enacting the law is to help meet the local demand for apparel, increase export, generate new employment, attract foreign direct investment, introduce market demand-based curriculum for the textile sector to create skilled human resources.A move was initiated by the commerce ministry to bring the buying houses under regulation with work to frame a policy and a draft has also been prepared though it is yet to finalize and come into effect.

Since novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, medical supplies demand has increased sharply. In the face of the demand gap of various anti epidemic materials such as masks, protective clothing and disinfectant during the epidemic prevention and control period, central enterprises such as Sinopec, CNOOC and Xinxing Jihua Group have switched production and started from scratch to ensure the supply of medical materials, making important contributions to alleviating the shortage of domestic medical materials.

Increase production of medical and health raw materials

Sinopec products are widely used in medical and health work, especially polypropylene, some organic chemical raw materials and synthetic fiber products.

In response to the raw materials of polypropylene chemical products such as masks and syringes used in the epidemic prevention and control process, Sinopec adjusted its production plan in time. In January and February, it arranged 160000 tons of medical brand synthetic resin, with a year-on-year increase of 45000 tons. At the same time, arrange full load production of Jianghan Salt Chemical Co., Ltd. and make every effort to support the supply of disinfectant raw materials in the domestic market.

At the same time, Qilu Petrochemical also timely adjusted the product structure and gave priority to the production of medical grade PVC s-1000m raw materials. This product is mainly used in the production of respirators, oxygen tubes, etc. after the sale of 1000 tons of products, the emergency production of 1000 tons is scheduled.

Zhang Yuzhuo, secretary and chairman of Sinopec Party group and leader of the leading group for epidemic prevention and control, said that we should give full play to Sinopec's industrial advantages, network advantages and procurement advantages, and do everything possible to ensure the materials for epidemic prevention and control.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the demand for medical oxygen in major hospitals in Wuhan has increased continuously, and the hospital oxygen consumption has reached more than 10 times of the peak daily consumption.

Sodium hypochlorite is the main component of 84 disinfectant. Shandong Haihua employees of CNOOC stick to the production line, implement the operation of four shifts and three shifts, and make full use of their horsepower to produce sodium hypochlorite stock solution, so as to ensure the demand for virus killing at the scene of epidemic prevention and control. Up to now, the company has accumulatively produced and donated 1.65 million kg of sodium hypochlorite stock solution which can be prepared as disinfectant to the society free of charge.

Full load production ensures supply

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Xinxing Jihua Group has resolutely implemented the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council and the working requirements of the state owned assets supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and has made every effort to transfer the production of medical protective clothing.

Due to the first production of protective clothing, personnel, equipment, raw materials, qualifications and other practical problems are placed in front of the emerging international China group. In the afternoon of January 30, Jihua Co., Ltd. completed the design of 2 sets of medical protective clothing samples; in the early morning of February 1, the cutting was completed; on February 3, the batch trial production of medical protective clothing was successful. On February 25, Nissan was able to exceed 100000 units.
