On September 16, China Textile Industry Federation (China Textile Federation) and Korea Fiber Industry Federation (Korea fiber Federation) held a video working meeting.

Xu Yingxin, vice president of China Textile Federation, and Jin Jijun, executive vice president of Korea fiber Federation, attended the meeting with representatives. In his speech, Jin Jijun said that he was pleased to hold a video working conference with China Textile Federation. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the situation of Korean textile industry is not optimistic. The domestic epidemic situation in South Korea is still grim, with more than 2000 new cases increasing every day. The South Korean government has accelerated the vaccination work. It is expected that 70% of the South Korean population will complete the vaccination by the end of October this year. Kim ki Jun thanked China for its support and assistance to the ROK during the epidemic. In October last year, South Korean investment enterprises in Myanmar suffered heavy losses and received strong assistance from Myanmar China Textile and Garment Association. He looked forward to the positive results of today's meeting.

Xu Yingxin mentioned in his speech that at present, COVID-19 fluctuates repeatedly, and the virus is frequently mutated. Although the vaccine provides hope for the early termination of the epidemic, much of the world is still in the shadow of COVID-19. The uncertainty of the epidemic has slowed down the pace of global economic recovery. The problems of manufacturing and shipping are causing complex and interrelated supply shortages worldwide. The global textile industry is still struggling. With the overall stabilization and improvement of China's domestic epidemic prevention and control, China's textile industry will enter a comprehensive restorative growth stage in 2021. Today's meeting will help both sides deepen understanding and exchange views on issues of common concern, which is of very positive significance.

At the meeting, the ROK representative introduced the current situation of the Korean textile industry and relevant policies since the epidemic. Since this year, although the production scale and index of South Korea's textile industry have rebounded, they are still lower than the level before the epidemic. The overall employment showed a downward trend, mainly because the rapidly rising wage level forced Korean textile enterprises to turn to overseas investment. Affected by the epidemic, South Korea's domestic clothing sales continued to decline. Since the fourth quarter of last year, online clothing sales have shown a double-digit growth trend. By the second quarter of this year, South Korea's textile and garment exports had increased significantly, mainly due to the surge in the export of epidemic prevention materials such as masks. The United States surpassed Vietnam and China to become the second largest exporter of Korean textile industry. Since November 2020, in order to cope with the impact of the epidemic, the Korean government has started to implement the transformation plan of the textile industry and promote the adjustment and upgrading of the industry around "sustainability, digitization, security, unity and cooperation".
