How to Transform Textile Industry to Attract High-level Talents

Textile industry was once considered as a low-end sunset industry, leading to young people unwilling to engage in textile work, and even just graduates of textile majors have not entered the textile industry to switch to employment. Faced with this phenomenon, the textile industry does have a lot to do, but if we think about our textile industry carefully, it is not necessarily not attractive to young people. Some people think that textile industry is a sunset industry, which to a certain extent affects the candidates' enthusiasm to apply for textile colleges and specialties. However, data show that under the pressure of the current economic downturn, the performance of the textile industry is still among the top in the whole Chinese industry, which reflects that the textile industry still has strong vitality and industrial competitiveness.

As the basic requirement of human survival, clothing is always an old industry in China with a population of 1.3 billion. At present, many developed countries have gained a new understanding of textile industry. In the strategic system of "re-industrialization" in the United States, textiles stand out. In April this year, the American Revolutionary Institute of Fiber and Fabric Research and Innovation was announced, which has become the eighth national innovation research direction in the United States. Under the background of industrial 4.0, Germany has formulated a long-term revitalization plan for textile industry - "Future Textile Plan", which aims to create a new stage for textile industry in the fields of new materials, energy and information. Intelligent innovation drives the textile industry to upgrade and develop in the direction of high and new technology. People's impression that textile industry is a traditional labor-intensive industry is also changing quietly. With the continuous improvement of technological innovation ability of textile industry, advanced equipment and technology have been widely used. The textile industry has got rid of the traditional backward and inefficient image, and the production efficiency has been continuously improved. Ten thousand spindle workers in the last century are the highest. About 350 people, today, the most automated enterprises in China can reduce this indicator to 15 people, or even fewer. Some textile production workshops have achieved full automation of production, the entire workshop can hardly see workers. Therefore, textile industry is no longer traditional, and "tradition" is becoming "new". In traditional concepts, textile products mainly refer to clothing. With the continuous innovation of textile material technology and the continuous expansion of fiber application fields, clothing, household textiles and industrial textiles are equally divided. Especially, industrial textiles are playing an increasingly important role in textile industry, and have been widely used in geotechnical buildings, safety protection, medical and health care, transportation. Environmental protection, agriculture, mining, aerospace, packaging and other fields. In particular, high-performance fibers and new textile materials have been listed as strategic emerging industries. Made in China 2025 takes ten advantages and strategic industries as breakthroughs, including advanced textile materials, high performance fibers and composites, new generation biomedical materials, intelligent bionics and metamaterials, which will also provide new opportunities for the development of textile industry. With the further development of textiles towards functionalization, fashion and innovation, conceptual textiles, future textiles and intelligent textiles will emerge in large numbers. Under the new situation, the new classification of textile industry can be divided into three new sections, advanced processing and manufacturing sectors wearing the whole industry chain, high-tech sectors represented by high-performance fibers, industrial textiles, high-end intelligent manufacturing, and fashion sectors represented by clothing and home textile brands.

The textile industry will not only be old, but also have a higher social awareness. Among them, the clothing sector which has the most direct and close relationship with the common people is using a large number of green raw materials of new regenerated cellulose fibers. A large number of Tencel fabrics represented by Tencel are enriching human fashion clothing choices. Other regenerated fibre fabrics such as rayon, Modal, bamboo fibers, copper and ammonia are increasingly becoming the quality symbol of popular fashion, and a large number of modern fabrics are adopted. High-tech achievements improve manufacturing level and efficiency. Therefore, even the textiles worn by ordinary people gradually get rid of the label of low-end and labor-intensive, and become a high-tech industry, so textile industry is no lower than any industry.
